Scrims, tournaments and Finalist
- What are scrims in gaming?
- A scrim is a practice match played between teams outside official competition — a custom room run on a schedule, with a fixed slot list and points recorded for placement and kills. In BGMI and Free Fire, scrims are how squads practise the exact lobby conditions of a tournament, usually several matches a night, hosted by an organizer in a Discord server.
- What is a scrim manager?
- A scrim manager is the tool an organizer uses to run those matches: it takes registrations, assigns the slot list, shares the room ID and password to the right captains at the right time, records results, and keeps a leaderboard across the season. Without one, all of that lives in pinned Discord messages and a spreadsheet somebody retypes after every match.
- Is Finalist a scrim manager bot for Discord?
- Finalist is a scrim manager with a Discord bot attached, not a bot on its own. Organizers run the event on the web; the bot mirrors it into the server — announcements, registration, a slot list that updates live, and a room-details embed only the slotted captains can reveal. Players never have to leave Discord to take part.
- What are paid scrims?
- Paid scrims are scrims where the organizer charges teams to enter. Finalist does not handle entry fees or hold money: under India's Online Gaming Act 2025 we stay clear of real-money gaming entirely, so there is no wallet and no entry-fee field anywhere on the platform. Organizers who run paid scrims collect outside Finalist and use it for the running of the event.
- Can I run BGMI and Free Fire tournaments, not just scrims?
- Yes. A tournament on Finalist is stages, groups and brackets: battle-royale points tables, round robin, single and double elimination, Swiss, and gauntlet. Group-versus-lobby rotation is generated so every group meets every other one equally often, standings recompute as results land, and prize pools and payouts are tracked as a ledger.
